Take up unit bearings consist of an insert bearing, housing and positioning screw. They are available in a range of housing designs, with different locking methods onto the shaft and various seals.

Take up units are usually mounted in take-up frames and they are easily fixed using an adjustment screw.

Most commonly, take up units are used in conveyor applications. They are used for shaft adjustment and conveyor belt tightening, as they ‘take up’ any slackness.

Made from strong cast iron, take up units have many beneficial features:

  • Robust and long-lasting
  • Self-lubricated units
  • Reduce friction
  • Highly reliable
  • Great tolerance of thrust loads
  • Excellent misalignment capabilities

Take up unit bearings are found in industrial settings, usually part of automation machinery. Specific applications include food processing and agricultural equipment.
